In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has virtually hit all industries, the American music icon, rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur, Sean John Combs (P.Diddy), is doing everything he can to support health care workers in underserved communities--including Africa.

In an Instagram live event tagged, “The World Biggest Dance-A-Thon,” P. Diddy raised funds for several hours. The event went live on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, at 3:00 pm EST and continued past 12 am. Over 100,000 fans across the globe watched the live broadcast and showered P. Diddy with accolades.

Through the live event, P. Diddy created an awareness of the need for celebrities and other individuals to rise to the challenge to support those on the front lines by donating via the website, www.teamlove.com, and CashApp, $DIDDYDANCEATHON. “This is different,” P. Diddy explains. ”This is PPE (personal protective equipment) going to underserved communities for the health care workers that get nothing.”

Participants were asked to choose their favorite song while they danced with P. Diddy and his family to raise funds. Several surprise celebrities participated in the event including Nigerian artists, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage.

Other celebrities include the likes of Shaq, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Naomi Campbell, Jennifer Lopez, Janelle Monae, Dami Lovato, Ginuwine, Torey Lanez, Kris and Kylie Jenner, Corey Gamble, French Montana, Adriana Lima, Usher, Ludacris, Ciara and Russell, Cardi B. and Offset, Timbaland, 2Chainz, Lizzo, Will Smith, Swae Lee, and many more.

P. Diddy’s giving attitude and respect were showcased through the way he brought celebrities together for a much needed cause. While the total amount has not been announced, considering how long the live event lasted and how many people participated, it’s believed that thousands of dollars were raised and will be distributed.

What made the event even more uplifting was the presence of African-American, African, and other international celebrities who proclaimed their willingness to unite as one. The term "one love" was echoed throughout the dance-a-thon because many realize it is time to come together to support our communities. According to recent data, Blacks are experiencing far higher death rates of COVID-19.
